Preparing to Set Sail!
01/06/2013
Greetings! Wow... embarkation date is almost here. I can feel the excitement growing in my bones! I had no idea how much preparation and paperwork is involved in studying abroad... my recommendation: START EARLY! I was eager and started a year early, and I still feel like I was pressed for time... I am now completely packed, and it feels kinda odd knowing that I can fit everything I'll need for 6 months of global travel into one suitcase, one duffel bag, and one Jansport backpack... very unlike my mother, no? Anyway, this is just a test entry, so that I can ensure that I actually know how to make a blog. Everything seems to be going as planned.... the computer has not exploded yet.
We leave for San Diego tomorrow (Monday) at 3 PM, as the parents' reception is there from 7-9 PM. Then on Tuesday I am going to meet the teacher I will be corresponding with for the Vicarious Voyage program - I volunteered to share my experiences with a random elementary classroom. I am so excited for this opportunity, and I'm really happy that I get to meet the kids too... I'm guessing not a lot of volunteers will. Plus the teacher's daughter is an alumnus of Semester at Sea - hopefully she can give me and my Mom some good last-minute tips!
Well, that's all for now, folks! Next time I post here, I will have started my voyage!
Much love,
- Nicole
